The smallest of the three cities that make up the Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater Metropolitan area, commonly referred to as the Tampa Bay Area in Florida is Clearwater. It is situated west of Tampa and northwest of St. Petersburg. Not only is Clearwater well known as the headquarters of the Church of Scientology, but also boasts miles of stunning beaches. Many of Clearwater's hotels are situated on this beautiful coastline while others are close to the airport and business districts.

Originally the home of the Tocobaga people and subsequently an outpost during the Seminole Wars with the construction of Fort Harrison, the population only grew after land was given away in 1842 to anyone willing to farm it. It is believed that the name 'Clearwater' came from the fresh underground spring that flows from nearby the present day City Hall. The popularity of the city as a vacation resort started to grow towards the end of the 19th century with the building of a sprawling Victorian resort hotel called Belleview Biltacmore. In the early 20th century, a bridge was built across the harbor, which joins the beach on the Gulf of Mexico to the west part of the city. Today, this vibrant city is home to thousands of residents with the numbers swelling dramatically during the summer months.

Access to any of the Clearwater's hotels offer is easy, as the city is served by the Tampa International Airport. Bus routes are plentiful and the road system is set out in a grid pattern, making it relatively simple to find any hotel. The Suncoast Beach Trolley is a perfect way to explore the beachfront from Clearwater Beach to Pass-A-Grille.

The hotels provide convenient access to many of the city's main tourist attractions. The Marine Aquarium is a must see, while a pirate cruise in Captain Memo's cruiser to look for dolphins while enjoying pirate antics like treasure hunts, face painting, stories and dancing is fun for the whole family. Sand Key Park with a beach and a park is the base of the artificial reef program, as well as a beach were turtles annually deposit eggs and is a great place to spend the day. Busch Gardens, Salvador Dali Museum and baseball training camps of the Blue Jays, Phillies, and Yankees or a game at the Raymond James Stadium also bring many guests to stay here. If it is evening entertainment guests are looking for, the historic Capitol Theater (now the Ruth Eckerd Hall) in downtown provides all the action with opera, comedy, musicals and live performances.

One thing no guest to any of Clearwater's hotels can miss is the stunning sunsets at Pier 60. Every night two hours before sunset, vendors and entertainers prepare their shows and live concerts and entertain visitors for two hours after the sun has set. This is a free family event and includes crafters, street performers, and lots of souvenirs to buy. This rates as a highlight for many of the guests.

The beaches along the Pinellas Peninsular Gulf Shore with their powdery sand are, of course, the main attraction here is the Beach rated the number one in the region. Idle days of swimming and sun tanning are the perfect way to spend a vacation. Lovely accommodation offers convenient access to the miles of sandy beaches and provide stunning views over the Gulf from terraces and guest room balconies.

Stunning guest rooms and suites await guests. Luxuriously comfortable king or queen-size beds ensure a fantastic night's sleep, while the numerous amenities and facilities provide all the necessities for a memorable overnight stay or holiday. These include large TVs with cable, in-room videos, a refrigerator, coffee maker, iron and ironing board as well as all the office equipment needed by corporate guests. Large working areas with a desk, lamp and comfy chair, data points, high-speed internet access and dual line telephones with voice mail and speakerphone allow business guests to continue working in the comfort of their own rooms. Suites include separate living and sleeping rooms and some provide kitchenettes for added convenience, particularly for long-stay guests.

Many hotels here are not only the perfect venue for corporate events but also for private gatherings and celebrations. With 1,000s of square feet of meeting space available, the well decorated and equipped function rooms and exhibition space are perfect for meetings, conferences, product launches, banquets and weddings. Professional staff and wedding planers take away all the stress of planning and implementation of any event to ensure smooth delivery and a successful occasion.

Ravenous appetites after a day in the sun are well catered for by superb in-house restaurants. Dine right next to the pool or on the beach, grab a burger to go, or sit down in comfort in one of the beautifully decorated restaurants and enjoy both local specialties and contemporary American cuisine, or a host of international dishes from around the world.
